Releasing Negative Feelings

Well I have my new blog in place.
So this will be the last week for a blog post on TakeHoldOfTheReins.blogspot.com. I will be leaving it up, I just won't be making any more post there.
This will be the first week of posting to my new blog at www.JaneCozad.com/Blog. I have copied all my old posts to the new blog so they will be there for reference.
I will keep you updated as more changes are put in place.
......
I would like to learn more about what YOU would like to learn more about
. I put together a short 2 question survey. If you have not taken the survey yet, please consider doing so. It should take less than a minute, since it is only 2 questions. It will help me a great deal, in helping you live the Life You Want.
......
This week's article:
In my January 12th newsletter I talked a little bit about letting go of feelings instead of hanging onto to them.
“Burying feelings can be likened to holding a stone in your hand and clenching it tight. You don't dare let it go. You don't dare let those emotions out. That would be a sign of weakness.
'Letting it go' is like turning your hand over, opening your hand, and letting the stone just fall to the ground.
Next time you need to 'let it go', try it. Think about clenching your fist tight and 'holding it in'. See what that feels like. Now, turn your hand over, open your hand, and 'let it fall away'. It is much more of a relief.
Or try this, think about it as a butterfly that you are holding in the palm of your lightly closed hand. Now open your hand, let it go, and watch the butterfly fly away.”
In the past week I've learned about another technique. Remember a couple of weeks ago I told you I had started a new program “to learn more about letting go of, and releasing, the limiting and negative beliefs and programming I still have.”
Well I've been experimenting with this new technique, and I wanted to share it with you.
With this technique you focus on whatever it is you are feeling. Whether you are feeling fearful, or frustrated, lonely . . . whatever it is you are feeling, just really feel the feeling.
Then you 'welcome' the feeling. You 'allow it' to be there.
I know it sounds crazy. But for me it has worked. It's like 'welcoming' this feeling seems to just let it dissolve or dissipate.
So let's say I find myself feeling frustrated because I have a lot to do, and things aren't going according to plan. (Of course, part of the trick is catching yourself having these feelings, so you can do something with them.) I then ask myself, “What am I feeling?” Then I try and really feel it. I focus on the feeling of frustration and what it really feels like. Then I ask myself, “Can I just welcome this feeling? Can I just allow it to be here?”
Amazingly, I find the feeling just dissolving, is the best way I know to describe it. I notice that the feeling is a lot less.
Than I may go through the process again, asking myself, “What am I feeling now?” “Can I welcome it? Can I just allow it to be here?” Maybe I need to go through the process several times on some feelings.
Please try it and see if it helps you. For me, I think it has actually worked better than 'letting go'. But each person is different, and different techniques work for each individual. At least give it a try and see if it works for you.
Even if it doesn't work for all feelings, or for all people, it is still a great 'tool' to have in learning to release and let go of the limiting and negative feelings, beliefs and programming that we have. At least it has been a great tool for me.
I'll continue to keep you updated on this program I'm working going through, and let you in on new insights. When I've completed going through it I will share the program with you and my overall thoughts on it.
Until next time, have an amazing week,
Jane

Problems. Sorry, that's Challenges & Opportunities

Well . . . , the plan was that by this week I would have my new blog set up on my own site and would be telling you all about it in this week's newsletter.
It's almost there. I have one little thing I haven't figured out yet, well maybe two.
Plus I've been amazed (that's the positive version) how much 'life' has gotten in the way in the past week. I've had this project I really wanted to get done and all this other 'stuff' just get coming up that needed to be taken care of as well.
It can be frustrating, discouraging . . .
Do you ever feel like that?
Somehow I've found that I've had this belief that if I was doing, and being, what I was supposed to be that everything would just flow smoothly. Everything would just fall into place. If I was the person I was supposed to be I would just be positive all the time. Negative, discouraging thoughts wouldn't enter my mind.
I've discovered I've had a deep down subconscious belief that super successful people, experts and gurus don't have things go wrong, they don't have doubts and they don't have fears. I'm not sure where that came from, but beliefs like that can sure make a person go, 'what's wrong with me?'.
Here recently I've had the opportunity to listen to some interviews of some really successful people. Interestingly some of the things they were asked were around the areas of 'what do you do when problems (err, challenges) come up?', 'what do you do when doubts and fears come up?'
The first time I heard it I was like "Really? You struggle with some of the same things I do?" It was actually kind of a relief, like some weight was lifted off.
So what are some of the things successful people, experts and gurus do when 'stuff' comes up or gets n the way? Here are some things I've heard them say, in no particular order.
Yes they have fears. They just do it anyway, in spite of their fear.
When they have doubts and negative thoughts, they counteract them with positive thoughts and affirmations.
On a regular basis they are careful of what they listen to, what they read, what they watch on TV, and the people that they are around. They stay away from, as much as possible, the negative, the discouraging and the non-supportive.
I heard that it wasn't an automatic reaction to be positive when challenges arise. Sometime they have to work at it for a minute, or 5 minutes, an hour, a day, a week, or even a month.
One gentleman keeps a list of all his accomplishments, and when things aren't going right he pulls out his list of all his accomplishments and reminds himself, "This is who I really am".
One thing I do is, I have a written vision for my life, my goals, and who I want to be. When I get discouraged, when things aren't going like I want, or when I'm tempted to give up and quit, I go back to that. And I know that this is what I really want and I can't give up.
So here's to getting past the roadblocks, or around, under, over or through, whatever we have to do.
Here's to hoping that next week I can tell you I have it all set up and you can go check it out.

Until next time, have an amazing week!

Changes

This week's newsletter is mostly going to be about some changes and new things I am planning that will be coming your way soon. However, I hope you get at least a little inspiration from this week's newsletter as well.
.....
Last week I told the story of meeting the gentleman who had lived most of his life doing what he loved and therefore never really 'worked' a day in his life.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to talk to a man who is at the very beginning of starting to live his passion. He is just getting started on the process of transitioning from his 'job/career' to something he loves to do and is passionate about.
I love it. I love talking to people who are living their purpose and passion, or are at least on the path towards it. That is one of my passions, that people ought to enjoy their life and live it with purpose and/or passion, to love what they do.
One thing I've had people tell me though goes something like this. "I don't know what my purpose or passion is. I know I want to do something different. I just don't know what it is."
So in answer to that I'm working on putting together a program to help solve that problem, to help people discover what their purpose or passion is, and to uncover what it is they would truly love to do. I will let you know when I get that all put together.
.....
Another thing I'm passionate about is around the area of limiting and negative beliefs and programming, and how we get rid of that crap and how we can change it. You know, those beliefs and ways of thinking and acting that hold us back from what we truly want and desire. Some might call it self-sabotage. I've written several newsletters/blog posts around that subject.
I personally have just started a program to learn more about letting go of, and releasing, the limiting and negative beliefs and programming I still have.
You've probably heard the cliche that we are like onions. We all have 'layers' of things to deal with. So even though I have grown, changed and improved a lot from where I was several years ago, I'm not there yet and I see more areas I would like to improve in.
I will keep you updated at various times, letting you know what progress I've made and the results I'm seeing in my life.
.....
I am in the process of restructuring some of my websites and blog.
My blog will be moving to one of my own websites. I plan on creating blog posts more often, with helpful information, as well as writing articles and posting them online. Lots of free helpful content.
I will also occasionally be offering products that have helped me really grow and improve, and I will be putting those online. Don't worry, you won't receive 'buy this' messages from me every day. My goal is to continue to give you valuable content for free, as well as to share products that have helped me. If you are interested in those products, great! If not, no problem. Just keep reading growing and improving.
I will keep you updated and notify you as I get things in place and as things change.

Lastly for this week I want to say, "Thank you for being one of my readers!" I truly appreciate each of you. And there is not a lot I find more satisfying, than when one of you tells me that something I said or wrote, either spoke to you or helped you in some way. For that is truly my highest passion, to help others be all that God created them to be, to live up to their potential. All of my other passions are just a part of that.
Until next time, have an amazing week! And remember to enjoy your life.

Never Work a Day in Your Life

“Find a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life” - Confucius
That is one of my firm beliefs. I think I'm almost passionate about it. It is something I'm moving my life towards. It's part of creating the life I desire.
This past weekend I got the opportunity to meet a man who has lived that lifestyle his whole life.
My husband and I went to visit some friends, George and Vicki, in northwest Pennsylvania this past weekend. We arrived early evening on Friday. After an eventful Friday night with their one son needing emergency surgery to remove his appendix, an incident with another son, and a short night of sleep for all of us, Saturday dawned a beautiful morning.
Once we knew the son with the emergency surgery was going to be fine and was going to be released from the hospital that day, George, my husband and I headed for Franklin, PA.
Our first stop was Maurer's Trading Post. It is probably the largest store my husband and I have ever been in for the outdoor sportsman, outside of a Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop.
Our next stop was the Franklin Antique Mall and Auction Gallery. This was an amazing place housed in an old armory. They had an incredible number and variety of items. We were really wowed. It is really a place you need to visit if you ever have the opportunity.
What made it even more amazing was the fact that the entire collection was owned by one man. We met him as we were leaving, as he was the person 'working' that day.
My husband asked him if this entire collection was all his, to which he said that it was. We then asked him how he had managed to collect so much stuff.
He told us that he had started at 6 years old, and he was now 76. That he had started at 6 years old selling eggs, and I think bread/milk, to his neighbors. He would buy other things with that money and resell them.
I said, "I be you've never worked a day in your life, have you?"
And he agreed, wholeheartedly. You could tell this man had loved what he did his whole life. Plus he had made a very good living at it.
How amazing is that?!
What about you? Does that sound like you, or something you'd be interested in doing? If you aren't already, it's never too late to start heading in that direction.
But here is another thing I got out of that experience. He started at 6 years old. What can we do for our kids, or our grandkids, to help them start developing their purpose and passion? What can we do to teach them good financial and business skills?
That would be an amazing legacy to leave behind.
Just something for you to think about.

Until next time, have an amazing week!

Imagine Living Your Dream

This week I'd like to share some inspirational quotes with you.
Live your dreams. Les Brown
Follow your dreams. Origin Unknown
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Eleanor Roosevelt
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined. Henry David Thoreau
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sale away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Mark Twain
If you can dream it, you can do it. Walt Disney
What about you? What are your dreams? Are you living them? Are you at least moving in the direction of your dreams?
Your 'dream'. Your 'purpose'. Your 'passion'. To me, they are one and the same. You might also add your 'gift' to that list.
At a recent seminar I attended in Chicago, The Millionaire Mind Intensive, they told us that we all have a gift. And that there are people waiting for us to share our gift. If we don't share our gift, those people will continue to suffer or struggle.
I recently conducted a small workshop on 'Discover Your Purpose and Passion'. We went through lots of various questions and exercises to help the participants uncover what that was for them.
One of the questions was, “What do you daydream about doing?”
For at least one of the participants it brought to light something she had not written down in all the other exercises and questions we had gone through. One of the things she daydreams about is rescuing pit bulls and using them to help returning soldiers.
Then one of the other things we discussed in that workshop was, once you know your gift/purpose/passion/dream, start deciding in favor of it. When you have decisions to make, if at all possible, decide in favor of your dream.
Remember -
If you can dream it, you can do it

Just something for you to think about.

Wrestling a Pig in the Mud

This past week I read a statement that has made me really stop and think. Actually I've been thinking about it off and on since then. I'd like to share it with you and give you something to think about for the coming week.
"Some people like to be negative. Arguing with them is like wrestling a pig in the mud. You both get dirty, but only the pig enjoys it."
I was reading an article about Joel Osteen and his church in Houston, TX, but that particular statement towards the end of the article just really jumped out at me. (http://www.beliefnet.com/Faiths/Christianity/galleries/Joel-Osteen-and-the-Littlest-Big-Church-in-the-World.aspx?p=1)
Among other things, it made me do some thinking about why we argue.
One of the reasons I believe we argue is 'to be right'.
I was reminded of a statement I heard several times at the recent Millionaire Mind Intensive seminar I attended in Chicago in February. "You can be right, or you can be rich".
I'd like to add to that, 'you can be right, or you can have peace'.
Not that there are not certain things we truly need to stand up for and defend, but how much more peace would we have if we gave up our need to be right, and just let it go, instead of arguing?
And that includes arguing with someone in our own head.
It can be a real waste of energy and it can sure be a loss of peace, at least for us. So one thing to ask yourself is, "How much is it worth to 'be right'?" Sometimes it may be worth it. But I'm guessing most of the time it's not.
Just something to think about.

Until next time, have an amazing week!

What Was Holding Me Back?

Do you ever feel like something is holding you back? Do you ever feel like you could be more, or do more, or have more, but you feel like there is a glass wall or a glass ceiling in your way, and you can't figure out why, or what it is?
I know I have. I got a good look at some of this recently and I'd like to share it with you.
When I first started writing this newsletter, it was to people I didn't really know. I started with people who had purchased products from me and were my customers, but we didn't know each other on a personal level. After several months of doing that I made the decision that it was time to share it with my friends and those people I did know.
That is when I discovered at least part of the answer to what can hold us back.
When I made the decision that I was going to share this with people who knew me - The fear started. It was definitely putting me out of my comfort zone. My limiting and negative beliefs and programming, that I didn't even realize I had up to now, started rearing their ugly head.
It was at that point I had a choice to make. I could either back off and not pursue my dream. Or I could keep on going no matter what I was feeling and no matter what my inner critic was telling me.
For a few days it was bad. I would wake up at 3:00 in the morning in a cold sweat and with my heart pounding and my inner critic was going, "what are people going to think?", "people are going to think you are in idiot", "who do you think you are?"
Up to that point I had never realized it mattered to me what other people would think.
One thing I do when confronted with things I'm not sure how I should handle it is (besides praying) I write. I sit down and ask, "what is the truth?", and I write.
I wrote things like, there is no logic in caring about what people think. So where did this belief or programming come from?
I couldn't think of any incident in my past that would lead me to be feeling this strongly. I kept writing, whatever came to mind. And then there it was. A memory from 6th grade came to mind, when something I said 'haunted' me for the rest of my school years.
Once I had that realization it was better. I was still uncomfortable, but at least I quit waking up in a cold sweat with my heart pounding.
I made the choice that I wanted to follow my dream whether I was uncomfortable or not. And I was still somewhat uncomfortable up until the point I got everything in place and finally did share it with all those people who knew me. As soon as I completed that project the uncomfortable left.
If you are concerned deep down what other people think, it will hold you back. Your subconscious' job is to protect you. It won't let you do something, if you are concerned about what other people will think about it. At least not without sending off all the warnings, like it did for me.
(Another thing to keep in mind though is, if you never try stepping out of your comfort zone, you are not going to be getting these 'warnings'.)
This is just one of many beliefs and past programming that can hold you back. The point is to start paying attention. When the doubts and fears make themselves known . . .
Choose in favor of your goal, your dream, your purpose and/or your passion. And keep on moving forward.
At least if you want to keep growing anyway.

Until next time, have an amazing week!

What Procrastinating Cost Me

Last week I talked about learning to listen to your inner guidance system and not editing it out when it gives you guidance and direction.
This week I'd like to take it one step further and add, don't procrastinate when your inner knowing gives you an idea or direction. Joe Vitale has a saying, "The universe likes speed". In other words (at least what it means to me) when you are given an idea, or some kind of direction or wisdom from your inner knowing, you need to act on it. As soon as possible. It is there to guide you.
Earlier this year I procrastinated on an 'idea' I was given. Because I did, I missed out on what could possibly have been a wonderful opportunity.
As some of you know, I am a certified Centered Riding instructor (level 1). I was checking out the Centered Riding website looking for upcoming clinics that might be close to me that I might be able to assist at. I saw that Sue Harris and Peggy Brown were going to be holding a Centered Riding Clinic at Biltmore Estates. (Peggy was my instructor for my instructor training) My immediate thought was 'I need to get a hold of Peggy and see if I could assist at this clinic. That would be 2 highly qualified people I would love to assist. Plus getting to check out Biltmore Estates would be incredibly awesome as well"
Instead of acting and contacting Peggy, I procrastinated. I played around with the idea for awhile. Then I mentioned it to my friend who now lives in N.C., and is also a Centered Riding Instructor, that I was thinking about it, and was she going to attend that clinic, and maybe we could both assist or something.
I still was in procrastination mode and didn't contact Peggy right away, but my friend did. I waited another couple of weeks, and then finally emailed Peggy.
As it turns out, they really only need 1 assistant and my friend asked first.
I have no one to blame but myself. But I did learn yet another lesson about listening to my inner guidance system, my inner knowing.
There is no guarantee that if I would have contacted Peggy right away, that it would have worked out. By procrastinating though, I lost my opportunity.
What about you? Can you think of a time, or times, that you may have been given an idea and you procrastinated on it?
Don't beat yourself up about it. Recognize it is a lesson to learn from. Realize that you can learn to listen to your inner guidance, your inner knowing. And you can learn to act, when you are given those gifts of wisdom, guidance and direction.
I'm working on it. Will you?

Until next time, have an amazing week!

Your Own GPS System

Do you listen to your inner guidance system? Everyone has one. Some might call it your higher self, your spirit, or your super-conscious. It is your inner voice, or that still small voice.

It is that inner knowing. Sadly it is often buried under so much programming and beliefs that often it is neglected and unheard. Often it is immediately edited out with all of the programming, beliefs and habits you have accumulated over the years.

The best way I know to describe it is, it is that 'knowing' you get when you open the refrigerator door and you 'know' you don't need anything to eat. But then immediately your other programming, beliefs and habits kick in and you edit out what you really 'know' and rationalize it with things like, 'but it's been a bad day', 'but I have the munchies'.

You 'know' a lot of things. The answers are inside you. It is learning to recognize it when it is speaking to you and 'catch' it before you immediately edited it out.

It can actually save you from some not so pleasant results.

One such incident for me was, a couple of year ago, I pulled up to a stop sign behind another car at the intersection of a busy highway. We both sat there for a bit waiting for an opening in traffic. The car ahead of me went. I 'heard' my inner knowing say 'Stop', immediately followed by a dialogue of 'if I stop I'll have to wait for another opening in traffic, and besides I was at a complete stop behind that first car'.

While I was still rationalizing to myself why I really didn't need to stop, the red and blue lights came on in my rear view mirror. And I got a lesson in listening to, or should I say ignoring, my inner guidance system, and I 'knew' it as soon as those lights came on.

Luckily for me, the state trooper got an emergency call before he could write me out a ticket. He'd even had his ticket book out and ready. But for me it was lesson learned anyway.

The trick is learn to listen to your 'inner knowing' and catch it before you edit it out and rationalize it.

Hopefully by being aware of it, you will start noticing more of your inner guidance system and 'catching it' before you have unpleasant results.

Even better, is hearing it, listening to it and allowing it to guide your life.  It's never too late to start!
Until next time, have an amazing week!

Are You Running on Empty?

I’m guessing you do a pretty good job of taking care of those around you and your other responsibilities. You make time for, and take care of, your family, your friends, your home, your work, your animals if have them, and your other commitments. Perhaps you are even ‘burning the candle at both ends’.

This week I’d like to remind you to take care of yourself as well.

You may have been taught to put everyone else first. Or that doing anything for your self was selfish. To give, give, give. Or to just keep on going.

But it’s hard to do that if you are running on empty.

Just like your car or truck needs fuel to keep going, so do you. If the gas tank on your vehicle is empty, it can’t keep running, it has nothing more to give you.

You are really no different. If you don’t somehow ‘refuel’, you really have nothing left to give. At least you aren’t giving your best anyway.

Do you get enough sleep?

I’ve been going through a couple of weeks where I wake up at 4:00 am and I can’t go back to sleep. (This to shall pass.) I can tell a big difference.

I know we are all different, but a few of the things I’ve noticed about not getting enough rest are: I have less patience, it is harder to keep a positive attitude and frame of mind, it is more difficult to stay focused on what I’m doing, plus I’m not enjoying what I’m doing like I would like to. Oh yeah, and when I’m tired I tend to snack more.

What do you notice when you are tired? If you aren’t getting enough rest, perhaps it is something to make a priority, at least for awhile.

Do you take time to ‘re-charge your batteries’? Do you take some time for yourself to do something you enjoy?

Maybe it’s spending time with your horse, or taking your dog for a walk, if you have one. Or maybe for you it is to sit down with a good book. Perhaps it is working on an art project, or doing some scrapbooking. It could be going out for dinner with a good friend.

I’m not talking about being selfish here, but making the time to do some things you enjoy can recharge and refuel you. It can give you an improved outlook.

What kind of ‘fuel’ do you feed yourself? Do you eat healthy? What you eat can make a difference in how you feel and your energy levels.

Just a few things to think about.

Take care of yourself and you will have a better you to give. Plus you might just enjoy it a lot more!

Until next time, have an awesome week!

By default or by design?

A few weeks ago I attended a BNI (Business Network International) meeting as a guest in Wapakoneta, Ohio. At each meeting a different member is scheduled to give a 10 minute presentation about themselves and their business.
This particular day the young lady ( early 20's) who did the presentation was a beautician. I have to admit my first thoughts were along the lines of 'well this will probably be boring' since being a beautician is one of the last things I'd want to do. Well I was wrong.
This young lady told us how she became to be a beautician. And I could see she loved it.
Then she told us how she picked the salon to work at by how it felt, and she knew it was the right one for her.
She then went on to say how she specializes in hair coloring and gave us some good information about it. I was totally captivated by what she was saying because she was so passionate about it. I mean, this young lady just oozed enthusiasm about hair color.
A few days later I was at a Women In Business luncheon and I happened to be sitting with some ladies who were members of that BNI group and they asked me what I'd thought about the meeting.
I told the lady sitting next to me how impressed I'd been with the young ladies presentation. I said, "She was so passionate about her business. It's too bad everyone can not be that passionate about what they do, and have that much enthusiasm for their work."
The lady sitting next to me replied, "Well nobody has probably ever told them they could."
Wow! What an insight!
It made me wonder how many people live their lives, and make a living, by default, instead of by their choice and their design.
What about you? Is your work, and your life, by your own design?
It's never too late to start!

Until next time, have an awesome week!

Sadie, The Undisturbed Horse

Two summers ago I had a group of friends over to our place for a trail ride, followed by a cookout. We live close the the St Marys river. Because we have wonderful neighbors who are willing to share, as long as we are respectful of their property, we have access to several miles of trail riding along the river. (Thank You neighbors.)
I had invited a couple of horseless friends who enjoy horses and riding. One of them was Ginger. I had her ride my horse Sadie. Sadie is a sorrel, small Tennessee Walker type horse, who now lives with a good friend of mine over by Erie, PA.
There were 10 - 12 of us on this ride altogether. There were 5 of us riding up front in a group, with the others at a distance behind. We were riding on a trail through a field of tall grass. All of a sudden a bird flushed up out of the grass right beside us on the left.
Well 4 of the 5 horses instantly 'flushed' to the right at least 10 - 12 feet. As the 4 of us regained our composure, I turned around and looked at Sadie. There was Sadie just standing in the same spot in the trail, looking at the rest of us as if to say, "What the heck? It was only a bird!".
So why did Sadie remain calm, and the other 4 horses hit the panic button?
Have you ever noticed that about people as well? Have you ever noticed that some people go through a situation and are all stressed out? Yet someone else can go through the same, or very similar, situation and they stay calm and at peace?
Why is that? What is the difference between someone who stresses out over circumstances, and someone who remains calm and at peace?
The only answer I have come up with is - It's our 'Perception' of the circumstances that make the difference. It is how we 'see' what's going on. It is what we 'believe' about what is going on. It is the 'meaning' we give to the event.
Just something to think about.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me." Remember that saying from childhood?
The truth is, words can affect someone's entire life, good or bad.
There is a verse in the Bible that says, "Life and death are in the power of the tongue."
I would encourage you to be aware of the words that come out of your mouth. To be aware of the 'programming' you are inputting into those around you.
You especially need to be aware of those things you are saying to yourself. What kind of 'programming' are you installing in yourself? If you go around saying things like, "I'm so stupid", "I'm so clumsy", "I don't know enough to do that", "I'll always be broke", . . . That is what you are programming yourself for.
You may not even have realized the things you've said to yourself up to this point. Often they can flash through your mind so fast you aren't even aware of them. (But your subconscious hears them.) Hopefully after reading this you will start being aware, and will start programming yourself in a positive way.
I'm going to keep it short this week. There is a lot to think about in these few short paragraphs.
My hope is that you and I take it to heart, and 'program' not only ourselves, but those around us, for the good.
